Modern IC-rated LEDs can be covered by insulation, so the gaps that were leaking your heating straight into the roof space can finally be closed up. In most homes the LEDs go into the existing holes, so the ceiling stays intact and the job stays quick — but check the colour temperature before you commit to twenty of them: 2700K to 3000K for living areas, 4000K where you need to see properly, and a colour rendering index of 90 or better anywhere you care what food, paint or fabric actually looks like.
